Ski Jackets: the best names to look out for

While the blue skies and pleasant breezes of summer we are experiencing are a world away from the conditions you would expect on your skiing holidays in France, there’s never been a better time to make sure you’re all kitted out.

To make the most of your ski chalet trips to La Plagne, La Rosiere or other leading resorts next season one of the most important items you’ll need to acquire is a decent jacket and we’ve rounded up some of the best names in the business to ensure you team style, safety and comfort in your next purchase.

Toni Sailer

If you’re keen to stay at the height of fashion while on the top of the French Alps, the range of ski jackets available from Toni Sailer could be exactly what you need. Paying homage to the famous Austrian skier of the same name, the first person ever to win all three gold medals in alpine skiing at the 1956 Winter Olympics, the ski jackets for both men and women are designed to meet the demands of professional athletes. They use only the finest materials, one example being the hand polished zip to offer the perfect smooth run. However, this standpoint on performance does not mean that style takes a backseat, with the distinctively retro styling you won’t have to worry about not getting noticed on the pistes.

Ryan Fur limited edition jacketAfter we got in touch with Toni Sailer, they recommended the Ryan Fur Limited Edition jacket as the perfect product for men. A limited edition model, it is made using 4-way stretch functional wool and genuine leather with a water-repellent finish. It also has Z-liner lamination and added water repellence to protect against stormy conditions.

Margot Splendid FurFor women they suggested the Margot Splendid Fur, which uses high loft fiberballs in the insulation. Developed exclusively for Toni Sailer, fiberballs are more functional than other forms of insulation and provide the perfect flexibility for outdoor skiing. Both of these styles are from the 2015/2016 range and will be available to purchase in the coming months.

Spyder

They are renowned for their pioneering technology, which is incorporated where suitable to enhance your experience on the slopes. One of the most sought after features is Bemis adhesive films, bonding various materials together using no stitches to result in a garment with a higher level of waterproofing and greater durability.

Of their jackets, we would recommend the Enforcer jacket for men as the perfect product to take to the mountains. Featuring a core ventilation system, waterproof zip and fully insulated hood, it’s the perfect jacket for whatever the weather has to throw at you on your Courchevel ski chalet holidays next season.

For women we would suggest the Hera jacket, a stylish product that offers everything you could need to hit the slopes. With under arm ventilation, detachable brushed microfiber inner collar and stretch cuffs with thumb holes, it combines performance and style to a great effect.

While all the companies we’ve featured specialise in clothing for adults, we’ve got a special treat for the younger members of the family to ensure they also stay warm and dry on the slopes. From grippy soles on footwear, to storm flaps and reflective strips on its range of ski jackets, Muddy Puddles is a company that prides itself on practical and protective products and the wealth of happy customers they have suggests that they’re moving in the right direction.

After we got in touch with Guy Fowles from Muddy Puddles, he offered us an insight into the ethos of the company and what drives them to continue creating ski jackets of the highest quality:
