Alpine Activities

Within Plagne Montalbert and its environs there is a huge variety of activities to keep you and your family amused! Here is just a small sample of what's on offer- we could fill a whole web site if we had the space!

Mountain Walking - There are numerous marked footpaths surrounding Plagne Montalbert. These range from gentle forest walks to demanding mountain treks. You can either walk directly from our apartments or get a little help from the ski-lifts which are open two days a week to ferry hikers up. One of our favourite walks is called Bief Bovet; which follows a small bubbling alpine stream and has numerous places to picnic - just ask and we will show you where it is.

Mountain Biking - during the summer there are plenty of shops where you can hire a bike. Like the walks there are plenty of trails and you can even take the bikes up on the lifts in the summer thus saving your energy.

Adventure Sports - there are plenty of options for thrillseekers, all of which can be arranged in the village. White Water rafting is just down the valley in Aime and they also arrange a host of other water adventure trips. Canyoning (descending very steep rivers and waterfalls) is a popular alpine sport and is available locally. And if you like heights then paragliding/parachuting is available in the main La Plagne villages.

We highly recommend Franceraft to arrange all adventure activities ranging from Rafting through to other water based activities. They can be contacted by telephone on 00 33 (0) 479 55 63 55 or visit their website at www.francecraft.com.

Paragliding can be arranged via by phoning 00 33 (0) 612 73 66 56 and ask for Stephane.

Swimming - Down in the valley about a 15 minute drive away is a wonderful lake that our children now call "Paradise Lake". Here you can swim and be perfectly safe as it has plenty of lifeguards and a really nice little restaurant for snacks and lunches. The water is warm (honest!) and as it's surrounded by lush grass you won't ever get sand in your clothes or food again. Man made swimming pools can be found in some of the other villages such as Plagne Centre.
