Getting There
By Car
Montalbert is approximately 600 miles from Calais, which
is about a nine hour drive (at peak times this may be longer)
you may download
directions here or we will send you full directions to
the apartments a few weeks before your departure date. It’s
an easy drive, being largely motorways, but you might well want
to take your time and enjoy the French countryside too. A good
website for route planning in France is www.mappy.fr.
Please allow approximately £100 for all motorway tolls.
To get across the English Channel there are plenty of
ferry services, plus the Eurotunnel. Try www.eurotunnel.com, www.speedferries.com or
www.poferries.com.
If you want to take a more leisurely drive down to Plagne Montalbert, there are ample opportunities to stop off in scenic and interesting tourist spots. The following hotel groups all have a large number of hotels en route. Their web sites are in English, often include local tourist information, and offer on line booking facilities:

Car Hire
We are now pleased to offer highly discounted car hire to all
of our guests, for 2007/8 we are now offering 15% discount
on all car hire, the amount will be added to your final
invoice. If arranging car hire yourself and you are arriving
at Geneva airport hire the car on the Swiss side of the airport
as this is much easier.
Please note that whilst traveling in the Alps snow chains are mandatory from December to April and you can be fined and denied access to the mountains if you do not have them.
All cars in Switzerland come with chains/tyres
but our prices do not include them and it is a mandatory extra
charge payable locally- this is typically approximately £20.
At French airports snow chains are not automatically provided
and you must request them, however sometimes even if not requested
they will be in the car and you must pay for them if taken. The
cost will be approximately €30 - €40 payable locally.
Other charges will be incurred for extra requested items such as child seats and ski racks and in addition, small airports do often make a charge for “out of hours” collection and return of the cars.
Please ensure that you check carefully what you
sign for at the airport as this is fully your responsibility
and in addition it is advisable to fill the car with fuel before
you return it as extra costs will be incurred for refueling should
it be necessary.
Please note that we are acting as agents on behalf of the car hire companies and any complaints must be directed to them and not us
